
The Forestry Division is responsible for the planting of new trees and the maintenance of existing trees in city parks, cemetery, and street right of ways. Money to support this program comes from the Tree Maintenance Fund which is a yearly assessment on all property within the city limits. There are currently three full- time ISA
The Forestry Division has a computerized inventory of all the public trees and is in the process of integrating GPS/GIS with the existing inventory system.
There is a free planting permit that is required for all plantings in the City right of ways to ensure that the proper species is planted in the proper place and to enable Forestry personnel to update the inventory.
Forestry personnel work with the Planning, Engineering, and Street departments on a variety of issues ranging from subdivision review to street/sidewalk and tree conflicts.
